Hepatitis D virus IgM ELISA Kit is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the qualitative detection of IgM-class antibodies to hepatitis D virus in human serum or plasma. It is intended to be used in clinical laboratories for diagnosis and management of patients related to infection with hepatitis D virus. A positive anti-HDV-IgM indicates an acute or recent HDV infection; a co-infection with HDV/HBV is associated with a transient positive anti-HDV-IgM; an overlapping infection is associated with a persistent positive anti-HDV-IgM; therefore, the anti-HDV-IgM test has an important diagnostic value. Anti-HDV-IgM antibodies can distinguish between recent or previous infections, co-infections and overlapping infections, and persistent high titers of anti-HDV-IgG and IgM fluctuate repeatedly, which are important indicators of chronic HDV infections, so detection of anti-HDV-IgM is important for the diagnosis and prognosis of HDV infections.
