Human Cytomegalovirus IgM (HCMV-IgM) ELISA Kit is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the qualitative detection of IgM-class antibodies to Human Cytomegalovirus in human serum or plasma. It is intended to be used in clinical laboratories for diagnosis and management of patients related to infection with Human Cytomegalovirus. HCMV is one of the most important causes of congenital malformations in humans. Primary or new recurrent infections in pregnant women can cause intrauterine or perinatal infections in newborns. 80% of fetuses infected with HCMV during primary pregnancy can develop symptoms such as mental retardation, impaired vision, and hearing loss. Primary HCMV infection has serious and even life-threatening consequences for immunosuppressed patients, and the mortality rate of interstitial pneumonia due to HCMV infection in bone marrow transplantation is as high as 75%. Recently, HCMV has been found to be one of the sources of opportunistic infections in AIDS patients.
