Herpes Simplex II IgM ELISA Kit is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the qualitative detection of IgM-class antibodies to Herpes Simplex virus II in human serum or plasma. Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) belongs to the A virus subfamily of the Herpesviridae family and has a particle size of about 180 nm. The virus is currently classified as type I and type II based on differences in antigenicity. Herpes simplex viruses are widespread in the population and humans are the only hosts. HSV type II is transmitted mainly through sexual intercourse. It is mainly associated with external genital infections and neonatal infections and can cause genital herpes and neonatal herpes. If a pregnant woman has a primary herpes virus infection, the virus may infect the fetus through the placenta and form a congenital infection. If a primary infection or recurrent herpes virus is present in the maternal birth canal, it can infect the newborn during delivery and cause neonatal infection.
